Hobonichi Weeks 2027 (Japanese): Moomin - At the Table

The Weeks is Hobonichi's slim, pocketable planner: a weekly horizontal spread on the left, a full page of grid memo on the right, in a book narrow enough to live in a jacket pocket. The cover illustration comes from Moominsummer Madness, the moment Emma the stage rat turns up in front of the Moomin family, Misabel, Toft and the rest as they sit round the dinner table. Little My has the back cover to herself, settled inside a sewing basket.

The drawing is done in greige line on a pale pink ground with a soft purple spine, which keeps a busy scene calm. The year is foil-pressed in silver, set in a typeface built from the curve of Moomin's tail, and the cloth has a rough, canvas-like texture. Moomin was created in 1945 by the Finnish-Swedish writer and artist Tove Jansson.
