Hobonichi Weeks 2027 (Japanese): Hiroko Kubota - Meteor Shower in the Light Blue Forest

The Weeks is Hobonichi's slim, pocketable planner: a weekly horizontal spread on the left, a full page of grid memo on the right, in a book narrow enough to live in a jacket pocket. This one carries a whole invented landscape by illustrator Hiroko Kubota. A pale blue forest stands in stillness around a lake that reflects a sky full of stars, and two white cats sit in a small boat with a telescope, waiting for something. On the far shore another cat scatters points of light.

The great fish arcing toward that light is printed in aurora foil, which shifts as the book turns, so the water reads differently from every angle. Kubota works in acrylic gouache, and the depth of the painted original survives the reproduction.
