Hobonichi Techo Cover: Virginia Lee Burton - The Little House

Virginia Lee Burton's The Little House won the Caldecott in 1942 and has stayed in print since: a small pink house with a red chimney sits on a hill through the seasons while buggies become cars, tracks and towers go up around it, and the countryside turns into a city. It is a book about time passing, which makes it an unusually apt thing to put on a diary.

The cover takes the book's clear blue sky and its handwritten lettering, printed on a fine-grained polyester. The spine copies the book's own, daisies and hand lettering on white with red wavy lines at the edges. The back carries the smiling sun from the original back cover, its rays doubling as the petals of a daisy, and there is a picture from the book's endpapers hidden inside the pocket.
