A pencil board slides under the page you are writing on. It gives the paper something firm to sit against, so it stops the pressure of your writing embossing itself into the sheet underneath. This set takes three scenes from Tove Jansson's novels, and the two faces of each board are a pair: the front sets something up and the back pays it off.
