Hobonichi Weeks Clear Cover: iyo okumi - Beautiful Season

A Clear Cover goes straight over a Weeks book rather than over a cover. It protects the book through a year of being carried and puts a design on it at the same time. Books whose own covers contain PVC, leather or faux leather are not suitable, since the two surfaces can mark each other. This one carries iyo okumi's Beautiful Season.

Beautiful Season is by iyo okumi, an embroidery artist and illustrator, and it is her stitched piece of that name reproduced in white ink: snow settling on trees, a heavy sweater, and winged figures dancing near a fire. Printed white on clear, the stitches read like frost, and how much of it you see depends entirely on the colour underneath.
