Hobonichi A6 Techo Cover: Yumi Kitagishi - White Cat House

Kitagishi's fourth cover for Hobonichi, and the most detailed of them. The front is a cutaway of a house full of small animals going about their business, painted in acrylic gouache and printed onto polyester that holds the colour and the brush texture. The dollhouse is a recurring subject in her work and this is the fullest version of it: wallpaper, furniture, dishes and small objects on the tables, rewarding a look at any corner of it.

Inside, against the red of the front, the surface the book slides against is done as pale green wallpaper. The right pocket has a white cat playing with a dollhouse of its own. The butterfly-stopper pen holders are drawn as flowered Tyrolean tape, and the bookmark is a plain ribbon. The back is a row of windows in different shapes, and looking into the pocket behind them shows you the rooms.
