Hobonichi A6 Techo Cover: Arts&Science - Wax Coating Kip

A leather cover made with Arts&Science, the Tokyo shop and brand run by Sonya Park, who also directs the Hobonichi Techo Planner. The hide is kip, vegetable-tanned and dyed, with wax worked into the surface by hand: the result is a deep dark brown that varies in tone across the piece and gains both colour and shine the longer it is carried.

There is no hardware on it at all. A belt loops through and closes it, and because it adjusts you can keep it shut as the techo thickens with cards and clippings. The leather edges are left undyed so the natural kip colour shows as a line around the cover, the Arts&Science key motif is stamped into the back, and both brand names are blind-embossed inside. The pen hook holds a pen by its clip.
