Hobonichi A6 5-Year Techo: iyo okumi - Haconiwa Gift Set

The 5-Year Techo boxed as a gift, with an embroidered cover made only for this set. Haconiwa means box garden, a miniature garden, and embroidery artist iyo okumi has taken that idea through every part of it.

The cover is linen, machine-embroidered with a bright green garden of white and yellow flowers, animals hidden among them, and at its centre the garden's resident sitting and reading. A butterfly crosses the back. It comes with a pale yellow bookmark finished with a tassel and a clip-style pen hook. The pencil board carries the same garden in coloured pencil, with a leopard at the top left.

The box is part of the gift rather than packaging. Closed, it is shaped to look like a book, with animals in gold foil down the spine and a foil-stamped line on the lid; open, the garden continues inside it, so the box itself is the miniature garden the set is named for. Inside that sits the turquoise box holding the 5-Year Techo, its cover, the pencil board and okumi's brand card. The embroidered cover is not sold separately.
