Hobonichi A5 Pencil Board: iyo okumi - Happy Tea Time (Taste Good)

A pencil board slides under the page you are writing on. It gives thin paper something firm to sit against, so the pen stops skating, and it stops the pressure of your writing embossing itself into the sheet underneath. The picture comes from Happy Tea Time, a series of embroidered works by iyo okumi. Taste Good is the symmetrical one, earthly animals and invented creatures sharing a drink together, arranged like a tapestry.

It is printed from actual embroidery, coloured thread stitched into linen, so the fur, leaves and grass carry the texture of the stitching rather than a drawn line.
